Hamilton Hall is a ten building dormitory located on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene, Oregon. After more than 30 years of housing students and guests year round, the galvanized piping throughout the complex was experiencing problems typically caused by an aggressive water supply and internal corrosion. While the cold piping was still in serviceable condition, the hot piping and recirculating lines were dispensing discolored water and had very low flow.

During a routine inspection, a facility owned by Children First Derby – a 40-year-old charity that provides care and support facilities to underprivileged families – was found to have a lead water service line on the customers’ side.

The Hillsborough School District and the school officials at King High School in Tampa were plagued by rusty water in the aging water piping of this early 1960’s era campus. They could have all the water pipes replaced.

The Hillsborough County School District had seen this problem before in their schools and after their recent restoration of the water piping at King High School, they once again turned to the experts at Florida Pipe-Lining Solutions for answers.

The Polk County School District and the school officials from Sikes Elementary were plagued by pinhole leaks in their bathroom water piping. Having to continually patch the leaky copper piping, they installed “patch plates” over holes in the walls to make it easier to access the piping the next time they had a leak instead of permanently tiling the walls.

The school had been suffering with rusty water and low pressure in their old water piping for many years and something had to be done. Replacing all the old piping would mean tearing up walls and floors. Instead, Polk County School Officials once again chose the neater, cleaner, and cost-effective ePIPE® System from Florida Pipe-Lining Solutions. Holder of 12 Patents, the unique ACE DuraFlo ePIPE® barrier coating system restores potable water piping to a like-new condition without the destruction, mess, and disruption to facilities that happens with costly re-piping.

The Zela Davis School is a multi building facility built in the 1940s. The domestic water system was primarily galvanized with some copper updates. The piping system was failing with pinhole leaks, rusty water, and reduced flow. Excessive costs associated with a repipe including; temporarily closing the school and relocating the students, asbestos removal and wall repair, would place considerable strain on the school budget. The short term repair undertaken by the school was to “band-aid” the pipes.

Leaky Pool Pipes?

Fire Suppression Systems

Effects of corrosion and microbiologically Influenced Corrosion (MIC) have been found to be major contributors to early failure of fire sprinkler systems.  The patented ePIPE process is a less invasive and more cost effective solution for MIC and corrosion control of fire suppression systems.  With ePIPE, pipes can be restored IN-PLACE with minimal downtime to the fire suppression system when compared to traditional replacement methods.

ePIPE has been independently tested and approved in many jurisdictions and by the City of Los Angeles Mechanical Labs for application to fire sprinkler systems (RR-5565) for application to:

  • Metallic steel and copper piping systems in 1″ to 4″ ID, and
  • New and existing systems

Tested under the most extreme fire conditions

A 15 year old home in Southern California had already experienced four leaks in their copper drinking water pipes.

Historic Properties

Retrofitting historic structures with a modern plumbing system can be one of the most difficult aspects of a historic restoration and renovation project. Working around historical architecture, fixtures and irreplaceable antiques make pipe replacement virtually impossible for many historical properties.

The ePIPE epoxy pipe lining system has been used successfully in historic hotels worldwide to restore their plumbing systems, as well as protect the pipes from leaks and corrosion. The coating is installed without inconveniencing guests or disturbing historical elements. Projects can be completed in phases while the rest of facility remains operational.

Special bypass adapters can be engineered by ePIPE which allow noninvasive entry to the piping system, preserving ornate fixtures and irreplaceable structures. The versatility of ePIPE installation allows access to piping away from asbestos coverings. The ePIPE team can access and isolate sections of the hotel’s piping system in order to avoid shutdowns and minimize effect on revenue by allowing the remainder of the property to continue operations during restoration.
