ePIPE team awarded patent for in-place pipe restoration and internal leak sealing system for pipes

Pipe Restoration Technologies, LLC (PRT), announced today that they have been awarded Patent #8343579 by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) .

This patent is focused on enhancements to ePIPE technology that provides for an internal barrier coating and leak sealing process applied internally in pipes while the pipes remain in-place, preventing leaks without having to use conventional repair and repiping methods. This patent covers pipes used to carry potable water, natural gas, fire sprinkler systems and drains.

The ACE DuraFlo®, ePIPE® team has been twice nominated for the US National Medal of Technology and Innovation. In Canada, Larry Gillanders, has been qualified as a candidate for the 2013 Manning Awards for Innovation.

The US National Medal of Technology and Innovation is the highest honor for technological achievement bestowed by the President of the United States on America’s leading innovators.

Supporters of the ePIPE nomination for this honor included Dr. Marc Edwards, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Virginia Tech. Dr. Edwards has been honored by the White House with a National Science Foundation Presidential Faculty Fellowship.
