San Clemente Island, off the coast of Southern California is a Naval training base which also provides services and its facilities to the other branches of the U.S. Military.  The mission of the complex located here is to support operational readiness of various military units through a realistic live training environment.

 The Problem:

The copper pipes of the potable water system in the housing dorms on San Clemente Island were originally installed using lead based solder.  As a result, the lead levels in the dorms’ potable water system  exceeded allowable limits by as much as 900%.  Pre-test water samples were taken and lead levels in the water were determined to be 135 ppb versus the allowable limit of 15 ppb.

The Solution:

ePIPE   Restoration.  ePIPE   equipment was transported to the island via barge.  The ePIPE   team drained, cleaned and coated the hot and cold domestic water lines of the dorms with the patented ePIPE   process.  The restoration process was completed in 5 days. ® ® ® Post ePIPE   process, the lead levels in the water dropped to Non-Detectable with cut off levels set to 5 ppb.
