This 12-story, 259-unit Holiday Inn, built in 1972 and located just seconds from SeaTac Airport, had galvanized piping suffering from low water flow, discolored water and occasional leaks; all classic symptoms of an encrusted and failing galvanized system. With high weekday occupancy levels, General Manager Wass Weera concluded that the ancillary costs of a repipe project were prohibitive. When Holiday Inn corporate mandated a shower mixing valve upgrade, Mr. Weera knew it was time to look for a permanent and comprehensive solution for their plumbing.
In 2000, Mr. Weera was among the many Hoteliers in the Seattle area that visited ACE DuraFlo ePIPE restoration projects at 2 downtown Seattle hotels, The Mayflower Park and the Pacific Plaza. Knowing then that he had found a solution to the piping problems at his Holiday Inn facility it was a matter of timing and budgeting to get the ePIPE team in to complete the job of restoring the pipes and upgrading the shower valves at his facility. ACE DuraFlo adjusted the project be completed in two phases so that the Holiday Inn could split the cost over separate fiscal years. ACE DuraFlo coordinated the restoration schedule around the hotel’s busy weekday schedule, limiting the amount of rooms closed during the week and working double-time on the weekends. Both phases were completed at a rate of 20 rooms per week with restored rooms returned to service in time for 100% mid-week sellouts.
GM Weera commented upon completion of the ePIPE restoration project, “We’ve had many remodeling projects over the years, some much larger than this, however this is the first project we’ve had competed without any problems. With such quick turn-around and no lost revenue, it was an easy decision to have ACE DuraFlo return for the second phase.”
