Copper Pinholes -A 7 Year Glitch Solved by ePIPE®

The Marriott Courtyard Seattle Southcenter was facing a recurrent pinhole leak problem in their hotel after only 7 years of operation and Chief Engineer Lynn Alton needed to find a solution. "We were repairing problems as they were discovered, but the leaks were quickly creating a mildew and odor problem inside the walls"

While Alton originally thought his problem at the Marriott Southcenter was an isolated incident, he was surprised to learn of 10 other hotels in the region which had similar problems were fixed using the patented ePIPE® process. "I felt a little less frustrated when I learned that other quality brands like Sheraton, Fairmont and Holiday Inn had all experienced similar problems," said Alton, "but unfortunately our piping had only been in service for seven years".

According to research out of Virginia Tech, the epidemic of copper pinholes across America is associated with changes in water treatment practices mandated by the EPA. Where copper had previously tended to last 20 to 30 years, the industry is seeing an alarming incidence of problems around the country in piping that is less than 10 years old.

Alton contacted ACE DuraFlo's Seattle's ePIPE® Team.

According to Alton, "the project came off so smoothly and without any guest complaints, I have recommended the ePIPE® process to our Regional Chief Engineer for use in other properties".
