Pipe Liner Coating Service & Repair

Why Repipe?® Avoid the mess and fix pipes in-place with ePIPE. Protect your property from slab leaks, corrosion and contaminants from leaching into your water. In many cases, your water will be back on the same day.

What is a pipe liner?

As your house ages, so do your pipes. Many things can happen over the years that can damage your overall piping system, including corrosion cracks, and pinholes. In some cases, there might even be some tree root intrusion.   A pipe liner is an interior lining that is applied to the inside of the existing pipe.    One of the most effective and cost-effective types of pipe liners is an epoxy coating. You could do a traditional pipe replacement, but it may mean holes in your walls, extensive damage to your lawn, cutting up driveways, and perhaps even ripping up your flooring. All this just means more money is taken out of your pocket. You may also hear of other lining processes such as “cured-in-placed piping” (CIPP), “pull-in-place,” or “trenchless pipelining.” These processes refer to pipelining solutions that place a new pipe inside of an old pipe. Note that these solutions are special to sewer repair or sewer pipes, not your home’s potable water supply.

How do I know if I need to coat my pipes?

In an ideal environment, pipes can last a long time with a life expectancy of over 50 years. In reality, though, outside factors often weaken your pipes’ integrity, and you can wind up with blockages, corrosion, and leaks much sooner than you wanted or even expected.

While a pinhole leak or some build-up might not be as dramatic as a sewer line burst or a sudden water geyser blasting through a cast iron manhole cover, they are still problematic enough to cause a homeowner great stress.

As a home or property owner, you want to ensure you’re aware of all the signs—big or small. Here are some common warning signs to be aware of:

  • There are water stains on your walls, floor, or bottom-floor ceiling (a leaky roof more likely causes water stains on the top floor ceiling).

  • You have wet spots in the lawn that are not caused by overwatering or heavy rain.

  • There are cracks in your foundation.

  • You notice a musty or moldy smell. Dampness causes mold and can lead to a permeating odor throughout your house. (If untreated, mold can also begin to affect your family’s health.)

  • There is a sudden or obvious decrease in your home’s water pressure.

  • Your water bill is significantly higher than normal.

  • Any of these issues could indicate a tiny leak or a bigger issue, and it’s hard to discern without a professional assessment.

Even if you haven’t had any of these issues, check with your neighbors to see if they have. Many neighborhoods are built the same or are very similar. When your neighbors start having plumbing problems, too, it might be time to call a professional out to your home as a preventative measure.

The pipe liner process

Pipe liners/epoxy pipe coating is an alternative repair method for pipe replacement or pipe repair. Instead of demolishing walls or floors to replace your pipe system completely, choose ePIPE’s epoxy coating process.

Our process is fast, effective, and minimally invasive. Here’s a general overview of the steps:

  1. Step 1: A plumber or plumbing specialist assesses the leak’s severity and shuts off the source’s water supply. We inspect your water pipes and evaluate the extent of the damage by conducting a pressure test.

  2. Step 2: The water is then drained from the potable plumbing lines, dried with heated air, and cleared to remove any build-up and corrosion.

  3. Step 3: Once the prep work is complete, our installers determine the length of the epoxy coating that is needed, and then it is blown into the host pipe place using pressurized air.

  4. Step 4: Once fully cured (it should only take a couple of hours), we’ll conduct a final pressure test to ensure the piping system is fully coated. Once verified, your plumbing pipes are turned back on and ready for safe use!

Applications of pipe liners

Pipe liners and epoxy coating solutions are used in many types of pipe systems and installations, including:

Besides the obvious benefit of stopping leaks, pipe liners/epoxy-based solutions can prevent expensive repairs and avoid other common problems in the future. Not only is it a restorative and preventative measure, but it also grants a home or building owner financial and even health benefits!

Here are just some of the other benefits to consider:

  • Saves You Money

  • Provides Clean and Safe Water

  • Mold Prevention

  • Peace of Mind

Saves You Money

The Insurance Information Institute says 1 in 50 insured homes collect on a property damage claim due to water damage or frozen pipes each year. The average cost of water pipe-related claims is $10,849. Epoxy pipe lining/coating is much less expensive than re-piping. If you use it as a preventative measure, you may also save significant money on home repair and mold remediation.

Provides Clean and Safe Water

PVC pipes are typically used in new-home construction today, but old homes were commonly built with copper, stainless steel, and even lead pipes and fittings. Over time, as metal pipes corrode and oxidize, corrosion and/or lead builds up inside your pipes and may come out in your potable water in higher concentrations. Epoxy coating cleans out the pipes and protects your family from rust, lead, and other contaminants.

Mold Prevention

Mold is a toxic fungus that needs moisture to grow. Inside your walls, a dripping pipe provides the perfect environment for mold to flourish and release spores. You can’t see mold spores, but you can smell them, and it can affect your health.

Once it grows, mold is persistent. Remediation is expensive, invasive, and time-consuming.

Drywall has to be ripped out, carpets pulled up, and fungus killers sprayed throughout the house. When ignored, it can be especially dangerous for people with underlying respiratory issues. Mold will destroy your property value as well—buyers are not interested in a house full of mold.

Stopping leaks will not guarantee you won’t have mold because your pipes aren’t the only potential leak source. But you can certainly eliminate a common cause.

Peace of Mind

The best part? You can relax. You just bought decades of clean, worry-free water and got rid of a handful of future problems. While the epoxy coating may create a smaller diameter pipe, the benefits far outweigh this. In most cases, the new diameter hardly affects the water flow.
