ACE DuraFlo is pleased to announce that its ePIPE® products have been reviewed by the American Bureau of Shipping and Standards (ABS) and awarded an ABS approved products certificate.
This approval recognizes ePIPE as an in-place protective barrier coating applied to the interior of piping for worldwide marine and offshore applications. Product models approved include both ePIPE and ePIPE FRS, the 2-hour return-to-service product.
The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is a classification society focused on promoting the security of life, property, and the natural environment through the development and verification of standards for marine-related facilities.
ABS Rules are used to assess the design and construction of new vessels, as well as the integrity of existing vessels and marine structures. ABS has operated as a not-for-profit organization since its founding in 1862 and is commissioned by the U.S. government and the U.S. Coast Guard to act in maritime matters.
At the end of 2012, ABS was the second-largest class society, with a classed fleet of nearly 12,000 commercial vessels and offshore facilities.
The ABS approval covers ePIPE products for installation on ABS-classed vessels, Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODUs), and facilities that are either in existence or under contract for construction.
ePIPE products are designed for the in-place rehabilitation of pressurized piping systems, helping restore existing pipes without the need for traditional pipe replacement methods.
ePIPE products have been used for in-place rehabilitation of pressurized pipes for the U.S. Department of Defense on numerous U.S. Navy vessels. They have also been utilized for pipe rehabilitation on offshore oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.
Obtaining this level of worldwide approval involved a collaborative effort within the ePIPE family. ACE DuraFlo extends special thanks to Gary Gould and Vic Caso of TDT Plumbing in Houston, Texas.
