Pipe Restoration Technologies, LLC, maker of the ePIPE® product line, announced that its ePIPE FRS fast 2-hour cure lining material has been tested by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) and complies with South African National Standards for drinking water.

According to Larry Gillanders, CEO of Pipe Restoration Technologies, LLC (PRT), the ePIPE lining material was tested by SABS at its Pretoria testing facility.

What Is ePIPE FRS?

ePIPE FRS is a fast return-to-service pipe lining process and material developed to protect the inside of small-diameter pipes that carry drinking water. The process applies a protective internal lining, often called a barrier coating, to help improve pipe performance while reducing the need for traditional pipe replacement.

Why This Approval Matters

Compliance with South African drinking water standards supports the use of ePIPE FRS as a pipe restoration solution for potable water systems. The technology was developed to address key challenges in the pipe rehabilitation industry, including water loss through leaks in supply pipes and concerns related to drinking water quality.

“This national approval in South Africa helps solidify the global reputation of our company and our ePIPE brand; our team has once again proven its ability to invent responsive technologies aimed at the pipe rehabilitation industry. Water loss through leaks in supply pipes and the delivery of wholesome water in light of the new World Health Organization (WHO) regulations covering lead leaching were important drivers in developing and expanding this technology,” said Larry Gillanders, CEO, Pipe Restoration Technologies, LLC (PRT).

ePIPE’s Global Pipe Restoration Reputation

The SABS testing and compliance further supports ePIPE’s position as a recognized in-place pipe restoration technology. By offering a fast 2-hour cure lining material for drinking water pipes, ePIPE FRS provides property owners, utilities, and pipe rehabilitation professionals with a practical option for restoring potable water piping systems from the inside.

For aging small-diameter drinking water pipes, ePIPE FRS offers a protective barrier coating approach designed to help extend pipe service life, reduce disruption, and support safer water delivery.
