Pipe Restoration Technologies, LLC, makers of the ePIPE® product line, has been granted European Patent EP 2099581 for methods and systems used to reline and seal piping systems in-place.
The patented ePIPE® technology is designed to support pipe rehabilitation by applying an internal barrier coating to existing piping systems. This in-place approach helps address common piping concerns such as leaks, water loss, corrosion, and lead leaching without relying on traditional pipe replacement methods.
“This patent helps solidify the global reputation of our company and our ePIPE brand. Our team has once again proven its ability to invent responsive technologies aimed at the pipe rehabilitation industry. Water loss through leaks in supply pipes and the delivery of wholesome water in light of the new EU regulations covering lead leaching were important drivers in developing this technology” said Larry Gillanders, CEO, Pipe Restoration Technologies, LLC (PRT).
European Patent EP 2099581 expands Pipe Restoration Technologies’ growing intellectual property portfolio. PRT’s patented pipe restoration and leak sealing technologies now include patent coverage in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
The European patent further reinforces the international use of ePIPE® technology for pipe rehabilitation, water conservation, and drinking water system protection.
Gillanders added: “We recently added a 2 hour return to service “in-place” lining material, NSF 61 approved in the US, and by the UK’s Secretary of State (Drinking Water Inspectorate) for use in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland for use in protecting drinking water systems. In the UK, ePIPE technology has been applied to service line projects as well as in-building services where leaks and lead leaching were of a concern.
The ePIPE® process has been used in service line projects and in-building piping systems where leaks, lead leaching, and pipe deterioration are concerns. By restoring pipes from the inside, ePIPE® technology provides a less invasive alternative to conventional repiping.
ePIPE® technology has also received recognition for innovation in utility and building infrastructure. The technology was named the winner in the “Best Innovation Adopted” category at the UK Energy Innovation Awards for developments related to protecting natural gas lines.
In Spain, the ePIPE® team was awarded second place in the “Selected Products” category at the Construmat Fair for Innovation and Sustainability in Barcelona.
In Canada, Mr. Gillanders was a qualified nominee for the 2013 Manning Awards for Innovation. The ACE DuraFlo®, ePIPE® team has also been twice nominated for the U.S. National Medal of Technology and Innovation.
For property owners, utility providers, and facility managers, aging pipe systems can lead to water loss, leaks, corrosion, and water quality concerns. The patented ePIPE® in-place pipe lining system offers a pipe restoration method designed to seal and protect existing piping systems while reducing the need for demolition or full pipe replacement.
With European Patent EP 2099581, Pipe Restoration Technologies continues to advance its global position in pipe rehabilitation, leak sealing, and in-place pipe restoration technology.
