The Courtyard by Marriott Santa Barbara/ Goleta hotel was experiencing leaking copper pipes located under the slab in their main lobby area. The pipes serviced the exercise room running under the slab of the lobby over to a boardroom. The drinking water supply pipes ranged in size from ¾” to 1 ¼”. The cost to repair these pipes using traditional re-piping methods, including remediation costs to cover damages to the fine building finishes, was estimated to cost tens of thousands of dollars. In addition, the hotel would be subject to downtime and operational inconvinience to staff and guests while the lobby area would be turned into a “construction zone”.
Concluding the re-piping alternative was not acceptable, Marriott management reached out to the local ePIPE team. ePIPE team members responded, first completing an on-site review which included tracing the location of the pipes and coming up with an action plan and job schedule based on using the patented proven ePIPE process.
The project was completed in one day! Leaks fixed, pipes protected, hotel remained operational and no messy costly reconstruction.
